During my birth of my baby, I lost 1.4L of blood. My medical team at King Edward Memorial Hospital said they would arrange an iron infusion for me. I was admitted for 1 week.
During the stay, the medical team said they were having trouble arranging the iron infusion as an inpatient. The consultant walked to the department to chase up the iron infusion. An outpatient iron infusion appointment was apparently arranged.
At the time of writing this, I found out that the referral was cancelled, and there is no iron infusion booked. I am symptomatic. If I hadn’t found out that the iron infusion had not been arranged, I would have been ‘none the wiser’ awaiting this.
I question why it is seemingly so hard to provide a patient a clinically indicated iron infusion.
