I feel paternal involvement is of significant importance to the mental wellbeing of the mother and partner and has shown impactful and valuable benefits to prenatal care.
Currently I found WA Health has provided a significant obstacle in allowing for the participation of supporting parties during a highly fraught and emotional procedure.
This policy seemingly excludes a partner's right to participate in a key pregnancy milestone. I believe it is exclusionary policy and dangerous to the mental wellbeing of those involved in the pregnancy, particularly where there may be complications.
I feel it is inconceivable that a policy such as this continues to exist. In my opinion, the policy does not demonstrate 'best practice of pre-natal care' and I feel it must be changed.
