My elderly parent has been receiving meals on wheels lunch deliveries for many years. They had commented in the past about how nice their three course meals were, however recently I have noticed my parent is only eating part of their meal, or not eating the main meal at all. When I asked them about it they said it didn't look very nice or taste good so I made a point of visiting them some lunch times to have a look at their meal delivery. I must admit I was surprised at the poor quality of food offered compared to how it was when I had previously joined my parent for lunch in the past. I tasted some of the meat and vegetable dishes and must admit I couldn't eat it myself, the meat was dry and tasteless and the whole dish looked sloppy and unappetising. This was the case over a number of days with a variety of meals. I was at my parent's place the other day when the meal was delivered, it certainly did not look appetising. The soup container had soup spill stains all around it and when my parent took the top off the container it was only half full of soup and almost cold. I can provide photos if required.
I am concerned for my elderly parent as the meals on wheels lunch time delivery is their main meal of the day. They look forward to this hot daily meal however lately I find my parent gets upset when they see the quality of the meal delivered and throws it out after tasting a couple of mouthfuls. I believe this in turn is causing my parent to become malnourished and lose weight. My parent can no longer cook for themselves so these daily hot meal deliveries are very important and necessary for their wellbeing.
The meals delivered to my parent are from Hawthorn Village in Bright, Victoria. They used to be very good but the standard has dropped considerably and I am very concerned for my parent's nutritional welfare.
