A dental service that falls under department of health is an extremely bad service, in my opinion.
I felt a staff member was extremely rude and especially to my child when I believe they are supposed to be compassionate in this profession.
I had an appointment for my child for Dental check at a certain time but unfortunately I was late and I called about 10 minutes prior to tell the service that I am running 10 mins late.
Now the location of the service is not available on Google map and also due to the construction around the facility we got delayed and instead of 10 minutes late we arrived 15 minutes late.
The staff member who was at the desk and was also the dentist already seemed to be grumpy when we entered.
My child is diagnosed by adhd and when we filled the dental check forms about a month back we didn’t know my child was so we did not put on the form.
I reached the clinic and signed a form again, my mistake did not mention that my child was adhd which I missed as I didn’t think that adhd has anything to do with dental check.
My child was made to sit on the chair and since they are adhd, they move and needs to be told to sit still. The staff member on the other hand kept on saying this and almost 3-4 times in our 20 mins interactions that sit quiet otherwise I will have to tell your parent to take you some where else to keep us safe. I believe a child’s dental check could me unsafe, I had never imagined.
The staff member again told me the same thing that they can’t treat my child if they can’t sit still for safety. I got upset and I told them that they seemed to me upset and are they being rude with a young child.
On this, the staff member said that they were upset as they missed their lunch by 10 mins and now will have to work without lunch to see other patients. I understand you missed your lunch but that does not mean that you need to, in my opinion, penalise your patient and be rude. I explained to the staff member why I was late and could not find the location as it is not even mentioned on Google map or anywhere else.
As mentioned, being a professional I feel they should have been compassionate about the situation, but I believe they were rude, mean and extremely deplorable to say the least.
Based on my experience, I feel the facility should disconnect themselves from this service
Worst thing I felt is that the staff member wanted me to declare it on the form so that means that we go anywhere we need to declare that my child is adhd
My child’s adhd is minor and if you check their school my child just can’t be still but has never been unsafe as I believe this staff member was claiming. In my opinion, this staff member is not fit to work in a child service and I feel something should be done about their behaviour.
