"Escorting me to my appointment"

About: Geraldton Community Health Service

(as the patient),

I would like to thank Amanda from the Child Health Building, I had a physio appointment within the hospital but I attended to the wrong area. I find it quite difficult to move about these days and I was already running late trying to find a park and getting the walker out of the car. I was quite upset when I got into the building only to find out I would need to walk all the way around to the other hospital entrance. I was just going to give up. My husband was frustrated I was frustrated and it all seemed a bit too hard.

Amanda very kindly offered to personally escort me to my appointment, first she rang the other department and advised them I was on my way. She then walked with me to the correct area while my husband moved the car. She carried all my belongings and just made me feel cared for.

It can be hard for us oldies to manage and being poorly sometimes it all just gets a bit too much. I believe caring people like Amanda are a god send. She could have just turned me away, but she didn’t. Please thank her for her time and the lovely chat we had. This little old lady sure appreciated her.

I was delighted to read about the assistance that Amanda provided to ensure you were looked after and were able to successfully get to your appointment. Amanda obviously realised how frustrating this situation was for you and your husband and was able to show care and compassion by assisting you.

Amanda is a very valued member of the Population Health team and I take great pleasure in sharing your feedback with her, acknowledging the excellent service she provides and her commitment to patient-focused care.
