We were living in Brisbane were planning to relocate back to the UK for family reasons. We had sold our house and a week before final settlement my wife fell ill. Our Doctor, David in Manly, Queensland sent her for blood tests.
Following the tests our nightmare started. David's persistence and home visits of his own accord ensured that she had ct scans showing a mass in her abdomen. This was later confirmed as ovarian cancer. We had no choice but to go through with the house sale and we moved into hotels in Brisbane while my wife was being treated and her blood stabilised.
Plan was for my wife to have 3 sessions of chemo followed by an operation to remove the mass. Our son in Canberra was able to provide us with accommodation and all documentation and liaison with the oncology staff in Canberra was carried out.
Dr Heather in the Mater public in South Brisbane looked after my wife for the 5 days she was in there and I would like a special thanks to go to her and the staff in Brisbane. Following our transfer to Canberra we saw Dr Yada and chemo commenced.
My wife was operated on at the Royal Women's Hospital in Randwick by Dr Leon and Dr Gregory. Both were superb. A special thank you to all the nursing staff at the Royal Women's, Macquarie Ward who looked after her and were superb. We thank you all. We could not fault the treatment and care it was exceptional.
