"Far superior"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I just had my second baby at KEMH. Last time I just went through the regular hospital whereas this time I was assigned to MGP5. While I was happy with my care the first time, the experience I just had with MGP5 was far superior. Having the same two midwife’s for all my appointments pre and post birth meant that the continuity of care for myself and my child was amazing. Having someone who I could discuss and establish a birth plan with was important to me the second time around and even though my birth didn’t go exactly to plan, because I had spoken with my midwife about it all lots ahead of time they new how I felt and were able to support me through it. I also found last time that seeing a different midwife every time meant there was a lot of very well intentioned but conflicting advice given which was overwhelming as a new parent. The MGP5 midwives I saw gave me evidence based clear information which I found so helpful. I couldn’t recommend this program more to anyone having a baby at KEMH. Thank you so much to all the amazing professionals who cared for me and my daughter!

Dear mercurycq46,

Congratulations on the birth of your child and thank you for your comments on the Care Opinion site.

We are incredibly proud of our Midwifery Group Practice 5 (MGP5) team and the way they work with our patients to achieve positive outcomes during the pregnancy and birthing journey. I am so pleased to hear that you had a positive experience with our MGP model of care, and that you felt safe and supported throughout your pregnancy and this continued when your birthing plans changed.

I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Barbara Lourey
