"Food and fuel vouchers"

About: Bass Coast Health

(as a service user),

I live in Wonthaggi and Bass Coast Health is usually one of the places I go to for emergency relief for food or fuel. I have been contacting them for the last few months to ask if they had any assistance for food vouchers. The other day, I found out I could get help through Bass Coast Health as my support worker contacted them and said they were probably able to help with petrol as I have been really struggling and have no money.

I contacted them yesterday and they said give us your details and they will contact me back. I thought someone would have contacted me yesterday and so I rang them this morning and was told that it’s going to be up to a week. I need help now, not next week. It’s meant to be emergency relief. I’m really struggling getting any help at all, I just think it’s ridiculous to wait for emergency relief. I don’t understand, is there a back log or waiting list or something? I know Bass Coast Health is a health service but they are also place for emergency help in regards to fuel, food etc. I just don’t understand why it’s such a long wait.

Dear plutoqb49,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Emergency Relief is not a core service for BCH but if you could please text my mobile (0472846355) with your name and phone number, I will arrange for someone to contact you.

Best wishes,

Jan
