My child was admitted to Busselton Hospital unconscious recently. They were unconscious for 7 hours. They had been at Leavers celebrations & had been encouraged to 'chug' their drink by volunteers, who are meant to be there to support the kids. While I appreciate how hard hospital staff work, especially during times like Leavers, I am distressed that I was not contacted, my child is still a minor & I am their next of kin.
When I called the hospital the next day, they said they would need my child's permission to call me & let me know what had happened. Even after my child gave their permission to call me, I never heard back.
I am upset at what I feel is the lack of Duty of Care shown by not contacting my child's family, as they are a minor.
