We were very fortunate to get emergency respite placement in Killara House with only 3 days notice. Dad just wasn’t up to having mum back at home after a 2 week hospital stay. Someone had decided not to take a respite bed and we needed somewhere for my mother to go until her new nursing home closer to us opened.
The vacancy matched the dates we needed perfectly and with a lot of last minute paperwork we were so relieved to have a place for mum.
Joel and the team at Killara House welcomed mum with open arms and made her feel safe, respected and valued. You were proactive with her medical care and this put our minds at rest. Mum enjoyed her stay and during her time with you she really got her sparkle back. We hadn’t seen it in over a year. Mum loved her delicious meals, the view from her room, the lovely garden with the beautiful roses, the peacefulness and your resident bandicoot and magpies. I loved ringing her and talking to her about her day, she had lots of little wins that increased her confidence.
Big shoutout to fellow resident Yvonne who kept an eye out for mum and delivered roses to her room when she couldn’t get out to the garden herself. Your acts of friendship and kindness were very appreciated. Thank you for reaching out and investing in her even though she was only there for a short stay with you.
Thanks to all at Killara House KRHS you truly made mums transition to permanent care much easier.
Kind regards and best wishes to all the staff and residents.
