"Physiotherapy before surgery"

About: Royal Hospital for Women / Physiotherapy Department

(as the patient),

Started off with pelvic floor exercises with Kimia in the physiotherapy department. We worked on bladder leakage and urgency through exercise and use of the TENs machine which Kimia introduced me to. Giving physiotherapy a go before having surgery was a great choice for me and my longer term health. Medications did not help and gave me nausea so to be able to manage my bladder better with exercise and TENs use has been my little miracle. My urgency, frequency and leakage have all improved. I feel more normal in my pelvic area than I ever have and that I could ever envision for my age.

Dear deltaqd53

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience of both medical and physiotherapy treatment for your bladder condition.

I am so pleased to hear that your condition has improved, and that physiotherapy provided a meaningful alternative to medications and surgery.

Experiences like yours give other women hope that they too can improve their bladder problems and at any stage in life! We appreciate that sharing these experiences and seeking help for these conditions is not always easy, so thank you too for your courage in sharing.

We really value your feedback about the physiotherapy service and your kind words will be shared with Kimia and our team of physiotherapists.

Regards

Victoria Walton

Manager, Clinical Practice Improvement
