"Pain management"

About: Sale Hospital / Medical Service/Ward

(as a service user),

I have serious back issues and have been prescribed for over a year subutex.  Thr only way I can cope with hospital beds without being in terrible pain is to recieve to medication prescribed for me.  Due to an apparent computer stuff up I got told my pain relief was ceasing the next day.  I felt this was a very poor stuff up on the part of the hospital which caused me great stress.  I had to ring my partner late at night to try and get the problem fixed.

Dear Mardb37

Thank you for sharing your story regarding pain management while an inpatient at Central Gippsland Health. I am sorry to hear of your concerns relating to an error in medication management.

I can fully appreciate the concern you felt to learn that your pain relief was ceasing the next day, noting the back issues you describe, and the difficulty you experience with hospital beds.

As always we would be pleased to investigate further. If you were comfortable sharing more information with us, we would welcome the opportunity to review what occurred and ensure that your experience is not repeated. I can be contacted at mark.dygraaf@cghs.com.au or on (03) 5143 8319.

Kind Regards

Mark Dykgraaf, CEO
