"Critical care & ongoing support"

About: Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department Perth Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

A few months ago my son was critically injured after sustaining “catastrophic head injuries” in a horrific incident, whilst riding his bike.  The paramedics and RAC helicopter attended the scene and he was taken to the Margaret River Hospital where an incredible team worked to stabilise my son, before he could be flown to Perth Children’s Hospital.

Several weeks have now passed and my son was able to attend his end of year graduation - something which in the days and initial weeks following the incident, was not even considered!

I don’t have the words to express my overwhelming gratitude and admiration for the expertise, skills, support & care of everyone who has helped to save my son.  His progress is nothing short of miraculous and whilst we have a long, unknown road ahead, I took so much strength and comfort in those first few weeks, knowing & believing that whatever the outcome, my son received the very best medical care in those initial critical hours and the weeks that have followed.

Forever grateful to everyone who was there in our  darkest moments and who have been beside us, as we continue to move forwards.  A heartfelt thank you to All - here’s to 2023! xxx

It will give me great pleasure to pass on your thanks to the staff involved in your child’s care. I will also pass your thanks onto St John’s Ambulance as well.

It must have been quite a traumatic situation for both you and your child and it is reassuring to know all the service providers worked so well together.
