"Assistant and discrimination"

About: Armadale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to the emergency  department after a terrible fall. The nurses were good, but one nursing assistant, kept attending to an elderly patient next door and seemingly refused to attend to me when I asked for help.

They told me they do not attend to demanding patients like me and they are there to help poor people.

I was shocked by their comments.

I cannot see the nursing assistant's name due to what they were wearing. It happened in the evening.

I feel they instantly felt disconnected to me and do not want to give me any assistance.

I was discharged with so much pain in a taxi.

Registrar or consultant not very supportive in my opinion. It was a nightmare attending this health service.

I went there as the ambulance drive took me there.

Compared to other hospitals, I would give this health service a one star. In my opinion, if you have an armadale address or vicinity you are treated well, if not, it seems the message is clear, do not come back here.

Terrible and horrible mistreatment is how I felt.

Dear microscopiumcc78

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience in ED at Armadale Health Service. I’m glad the nurses cared for you well, but was sad to hear about your experience with one of the care assistants and the doctors on shift. We expect all staff to show kindness and respect to all people attending our hospitals, and I’m sorry you feel we did not achieve this on this occasion.

We are unable to identify you or the staff concerned from your feedback. Please contact our consumer liaison officer at AKG_ConsumerLiaison@health.wa.gov.au or Tel: (08) 9391 1153 so that we can investigate your concerns fully.

I do hope you are recovering well from your fall.

Best wishes,

Alison Parr

A/Executive Director
