I'm so grateful that I was able to be included in this years Margaret River MGP (midwifery group practice) program. I'm truly blown away by the amount of support and care shown by the midwives that were assigned to me - Anita and Katie. Leading up to the birth of my first child, it was fantastic to be able to have regular midwife visits and feel genuinely supported. Both Anita and Katie really encouraged me to get in touch about absolutely anything that I was concerned about and they were always so patient and supportive with all of my questions.
Even though I ended up giving birth at a different hospital, I was still able to access the home visits after the birth and they were so important for me. I can't believe that I was able to access this kind of support and this level of care in a regional area.
The first couple of weeks at home I received at least 2 home visits a week and then as I got more settled in, that dropped to 1 visit per week for a full 6 weeks post partum. I can't express enough how amazing both Katie and Anita were! It brought me a real sense of relief to be able to have all that face to face contact and support in those early weeks when I was still trying to figure everything out with my new baby (and also my own questions about my c-section recovery). Also, it was comforting to be able to track the progress and growth of my baby in those early weeks too at each of the visits. Both Anita and Katie were exceptionally patient with my enormous list of questions each time they came to visit and I was always welcome to text and call them - day and night!
The MGP program completely and utterly exceeded my expectations - the level and quality of genuine care and support I received was amazing and I am extremely grateful for the role that Anita and Katie played in my pre-birth and post-birth experience. Thanks for everything!
