"Positive experience in the St Vincent's Public Hospital ED"

About: St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I went to St Vincent's ED on day 6 of having COVID because I was not able to keep any food or fluids in. They triaged me quickly and took me straight into a short stay bed; I did not wait at all. Over the course of the day, they took my blood pressure, measured my pulse, gave me two bags of fluid and helped manage my nausea. As it was really close to Christmas and I was facing the prospect of a Christmas alone, the staff I saw also empathised with my situation and not being able to travel to see my family. They were kind and gentle in how they treated me. I appreciated how caring they were.

Dear handsetdf74,

Thank you for posting such lovely feedback about your experience with our ED staff. I’m pleased to hear you were seen quickly, and most importantly, the staff showed you empathy and kindness. These are values we hold in high regard at St. Vincent’s. Our ED staff have been working hard and often under trying conditions over the pandemic and positive feedback such as yours, means a lot to them. We will share this with the team.

Thank you for taking the time out to post your experience on Care Opinion.

- Jonty
(SVHM Medical Director ED)
