"Geradlton regional hospital radiology & phlebotomy"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Medical Imaging Geraldton Hospital / Outpatient Services

(as a parent/guardian),

I have an autistic teenager undergoing a pile of testing for some serious health concerns currently. I had my arms full with a baby and I was doing a poor job hiding my anxiety over the whole situation while trying to keep my teen chilled out.

The xray tech was great with my son, and spoke to him in such a way that he was calm and unhurried making the test fast and easy for us.

The bloods are always an issue  so before hand I mentioned his additional needs, hoping the staff had some experience with ASD and anxiety.

They were amazing. From the time they opened the door to let us through it was clear all the staff were making an effort to make him calm and comfortable. Then one staff took his blood expertly while another held his hand and kept him distracted.

Thank you so much for going the extra mile for us. It might not seem like a big deal to any of you but it is such a load off to our family, and means we aren't putting off a diagnosis because testing is too stressful for my son. Thank you xxx I'm sorry I have managed to forget everyone's name is my stress :/

It was very pleasing to read how well you and your son were supported throughout the scan and blood test process. The Xray tech and the team taking blood have all excelled in putting your son at ease, which has allowed you to feel he is in safe hands. I will be very pleased to pass on your kind words and acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved in assisting your son.
