"Fantastic antenatal + birthing experience at Box Hill"

A massive thank you to all of the midwives I saw through the MGP including Tilly, Christina, Amy, and Tara - and in particular Tess who I saw for my last few appointments and who attended my daughter's birth. I can't speak more positively about my experience - I received impeccable care at every appointment, as well as education on various topics such as breastfeeding, labouring positions, mental health and wellbeing, pelvic floor health, diet, and so on. I felt very supported and like my health was just as important to the midwives as my baby's health - I was also fortunate to receive an iron infusion which made my last few weeks of pregnancy a lot easier for me.

All of the midwives I dealt with were hugely respectful of my agency, asking questions about what I wanted during birth and labour, and keeping me informed of everything they were doing, why certain procedures were occurring, and so on.

They were also very welcoming of my husband, finding ways to include him in the birth and postpartum experience as well. My birth itself was wonderful - Tess had prepared one of the birthing rooms beautifully with fairy lights and music, and I gave birth to my daughter in water as I had hoped. A huge thank you also to Tess and Emily for the photos taken of the birth and for the support and encouragement during my labour. Tess and Amy visited us afterwards at home and provided invaluable support and advice about breastfeeding and settling.

During a postpartum home visit, Tess also picked up that my daughter had an irregular heart beat, and arranged for us to be checked immediately at Box Hill's neonatal special care to ensure that it was a benign issue (which fortunately, it was - but I am so glad we didn't need to wait before finding that out). Overall, I couldn't be more grateful for the excellent care we were given throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. A massive thank you to all of the midwives who helped facilitate such a beautiful, gentle, and positive experience for us.
