"Children’s emergency dept"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I took my 8 months old baby in about a knock to her head. Even though I had to wait over 3,5 hours, I could not have been more impressed by the support from one of their staff members. I didn’t get his name but he was a fan of tattoos (dan?). Sitting alone in a waiting room until 3am is no fun. He triaged us and very thoughtfully and came over to update me numerous times. He even offered me a cup of tea and checked that I was OK. I’m sure he is very busy. I just want FS hospital to know that people like him make a difference. With the massive wait, I could have left feeling a bit broken. It seemed he was great with everyone and I feel is a definite keeper, FSH.

I’m so sorry to hear about your baby’s knock to her head – that must have been very scary for you. I am also sorry about the wait you experienced – we are doing the best we can with the resources that we have, but I am aware that current emergency department wait times are less than ideal.

Of course I was delighted to read of the care you received, particularly from our tattooed staff member! I will do my best to find our Paediatric ED staff member who matches your description, and pass on your gratitude with my added personal thanks.

And thank you for taking time out of your day to share such positive feedback – it really does mean the world to us.
