"My elderly dad’s treatment at the RACE Clinic"

About: Joondalup Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My 95 year old  Dad attended JHC E.D.with a severe leg infection. The Waiting Room was full and unfortunately, a lengthy wait ahead. As we were assessed the nurse suggested that maybe we could be seen at the RACE clinic and in next to no time at all a nurse brought us through and asked a few relevant questions and then Dr. Chua came to see us and arranged for blood tests, ultrasound and reviews by a Physiotherapist. Everyone was so attentive and caring  and my Dad felt so reassured by the whole experience. Can’t thank nurses Melissa, Maureen and the wonderful Dr. Chua enough for how they treated my Dad. Well done Joondalup Health Campus for this innovative approach with the elderly.

Dear bargainrw38,

Thank you so much for your feedback, acknowledging the attentive, caring and reassuring care provided by the Rapid Access Care for the Elderly (RACE) team.

The RACE Clinic was set up for the elderly who present to the Emergency Department (ED) that would benefit from a comprehensive geriatric assessment, including a team of support staff to provide a supported pathway out of the ED and safely back home.

I am very proud of the service and the staff who work within the team. The staff will be delighted to receive your feedback.

Wishing your dad all the best.

Kind Regards

Mary Ferrier
