"Experience in emergency"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Awful experience with Bunbury hospital. I got sent home from ED when still in pain, then when I went back I believe I spent the night in short stay next to someone with covid. It seemed I got left in the corridor of apex while vomiting. They paged and paged and no one from ED came to get me. When apex took me back to ED themselves no one knew where my room was. I waited another 20 minutes for something to stop the vomiting. I feel every step of the process has been slow, and I was been stuck in a four bed room on the kids ward. They still hadn't charted my regular medications and I recall had repeatedly tried to give me medication I'm allergic to. No one had done anything to follow up my repeated requests to go to the private hospital despite having cover. The whole place seems to me incredibly disorganised.

Dear Bunbury pt

I was saddened to read that your recent experience at the Bunbury Hospital did not meet your expectations and for this I am sincerely sorry.

You have outlined a number of concerns, both during your time in the Emergency Department and as an inpatient on the ward, that I would like to explore so that we can work on preventing this happening again. If you feel comfortable please make contact with our Patient Liaison team to provide your contact details via: SWfeedback@health.wa.gov.au or call us on 08 6753 6537.

I do hope that you have now recovered or are well on your way.

Kind regards,

Amber Hargans

Update posted by Bunbury pt (the patient)

Thank you for your response. I have emailed the above address.

I am home, in the same amount of pain as I was when I went in. I was not happy to be discharged.
