"Leisure group bus"

About: Alpine@Home

(as a service user),

The girls are wonderful they really do so much and both the staff and volunteers really help, they do everything.

But I have one complaint: the bus is very hard to get in to. There are two steps in the bus but they are high and there is a stool but it is also a bit high. My relative helped me because I couldn’t get up on the bus, I nearly had a fall and if it wasn’t for my relative and staff I believe I would have.

Since then they have picked me up in a car. I don’t mind getting a car but it’s a lot of extra work for the girls.

I believe I am not the only one who feels this way, the bus is hard to get up on and I feel it needs a lift. I have heard the bus in another aged care home has a lift.

We’re all old people, and the girls have got to lift all the wheelies into the bus, it’s a lot of work for them. I’m not complaining about the service, it’s wonderful, but I feel we need a lift for the bus.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you are enjoying the Alpine Leisure Group and the support from the staff and volunteers.

In relation to the access for the leisure group bus, we understand your concerns regarding a lift and the transfer of wheelie walkers. I will refer your feedback to our WH&S Committee for further consideration.

Thank you for your time to share your concerns.

Hello geminibq58,

We are expecting a new bus for the Myrtleford Alpine Leisure Group in the next couple of months and will assess the accessibility of the new bus when it arrives.

In the meantime, we have provided the staff with the use of a car to assist with client pick up and drop offs ongoing.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Kind Regards,

Jess Harris
