"Excellent care received on Xmas Day"

About: Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My mum had a fall in Margaret River on Xmas day and sustained a laceration to her head and eye that needed stitches.

We attended Margaret River Hospital and were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who triaged her immediately and ensured she was looked after. The nurse attending her (Mitch) was fantastic, she reassured mum at all times and made sure she was comfortable offering her blankets and a cup of tea whilst she waited. She was professional at all times and constantly checked on mum and updated us of the progress and wait times whilst we waited for the doctor. The Dr (Kamal) was equally as professional, warm and friendly. He took his time when stitching mums head knowing it was a delicate area and may be painful. He reassured mum throughout and was considerate and never once complained, (despite it being a tricky wound to stitch!).

The ED was busy (despite it being Xmas day) but the staff never once seemed tired or stressed and went about their work happily. As a healthcare worker myself, it was beautiful to see staff who truly cared about their patients and despite not being able to spend Christmas with their own families still showed empathy and compassion (and festive cheer!) whilst attending to their patients.

I feel the busy staff are to be commended for their professionalism, compassion and dedication (specially Mitch/Michelle and Kamal). A heartfelt thankyou from myself and my family.
