"My enquiry for a possible appointment for a friend"

I had a friend, who needed someone to look into their ears, possible ear wax pushed up against their ear drum so unable to stand without feeling dizzy? I phoned my local medical clinic to talk to a practice nurse. I was told that they would phone back a specific time. 

I got told that a tele -conference was booked to discuss what was needed.

I thought this was a little odd as teleconferences were meant for if a doctor was involved. Nurse rang and I explained and put my friend on the phone and an appointment was made, then another phone call was made explaining the costs that were involved. 

My objection is lack of transparency with the reception staff and being able to talk to a nurse to see what was needed .

I later found out that I was not charged for this phone call - I just thought the whole process was quite bizzare.
