i had a letter from Dr, and x-ray form to have 1 year follow up xray on Bilateral Total Knee replacement. the xray form required AP weight bearing, Lateral, intercondylar, skyline and Maquet views.

i presented to northam hospital xray department around 10am, RPH had given a cover letter for the radiology provider going through how they wanted the xrays to be done and it stated in bold and underlined "Note if you do not have the equipment to do the Maguet views, don't worry just do the other views".

This letter along with the xray form was given to the front desk staff member who went off with them and came back and said we can not do the xray due to not being able to do Maguet xrays, i tried to tell them, the letter says it doesn't matter and that they are to do the other xrays anyway. the staff member said no we can not do it at all.

I was refused my follow xray and after driving a 160km turn around went home. i am totally shocked that even with a cover letter from the doctor stating how and not to worry about the Maquet they still refused to do any of the xrays.

Dear attendantnr65,

I was sorry to read that you were refused an x-ray at Northam Hospital.

It was disappointing to read of the distance you travelled and time wasted and I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.

I have discussed the matter with the Northam Medical Imaging Staff who acknowledge that there has been a communication breakdown and front desk staff should have checked with the Technician to see what was possible.

Your other x-rays should have been performed even though Northam Hospital does not have the capacity to undertake the Macquet views.

If you still require the other x-rays to be done, please contact me on 9690 1315 and I will ensure the department takes your referral and provides the service required.
