"Excellent emergency care"

About: Wagga Wagga Base Hospital / Emergency Department Wagga Wagga Base Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Woke up about 4am with gut pain - thought it was constipation. By 8am I was in agony and was taken by ambulance to Wagga base hospital (the ambo's were prompt and professional).

The ED staff worked very fast to curb my increasing pain levels and have my problem investigated. They were professional, caring and (I thought) very tired....many thanks Marissa, KeeAnne, Varsha (my spelling/memory is sure to be way off!) and many others.

By the afternoon I was in emergency surgery for a (correctly diagnosed) constricted bowel addressed with minimally invasive keyhole surgery by Dr's Phoebe, Evans and their great team.

By the evening I was in recovery and out of pain - and hugely relieved/greatful.

Great outcome for me. Despite staff shortages, bed shortages, pillow scarcity (and would you believe even water jug shortages) Wagga Base provided great care and made me feel cared for!

Great performance under pressure.

Well done Wagga Base and thank you.
