"Cat bite to my palm"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

After being a feline registered veterinary nurse for 7 years, I was quite embarrassed that my own cat had bitten my hand quite deeply whilst I was restraining her for a blood draw to see if she'd been bitten by the snake she had been chasing in her enclosure.

I arrived to ED knowing my situation wasn't life or limb threatening, but cat bites can go very badly very quickly and I didn't want to risk my dominant hand.

When I arrived there were a bunch of people waiting and the triage nurse was busy. The staff were under the pump but still so caring and efficient. A nurse from the back came out and offered to take my vitals to keep the process going. Her name was Casey (I hope I got the spelling right!) and she was fantastic. The admin nurse and Doctor (whom I have blanked on their names sorry!!) were both wonderful too. Efficient without rushing me, thorough without being patronising, understanding and caring.

Nurse Taryn provided my wound care and tetanus shot and she gave such a high standard of care. It was only a small wound (though potential to get very nasty!) She was knowledgeable and caring, and was so efficient.
All staff I dealt with, were caring, friendly efficient and warm. I wasn't made to feel like an inconvenience with my small wound and I received the care I needed.
Thank you so much ED team ❤️❤️ Assets to our community

Dear muscafs79

Thank you for providing such lovely feedback on Care Opinion.

I was pleased to read how well everyone in the Emergency Department worked together in a busy environment to ensure your wound was well cared for. You have described the compassionate and non-judgemental care we strive to provide our community.

Your feedback has been shared with the ED team for them to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved in your care.

I do hope your hand is on the mend and thank you again for your kind words.
