"Finding answers and solutions"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Breastfeeding Centre of WA

(as a parent/guardian),

We have had a supportive experience at the breastfeeding centre in KEMH, WA.

Joanne really helped us finding answers and solutions when our baby would not effectively breastfeed after birth.

The lactation consultation covered everything from listening to our concerns to giving us practical tips and solutions to take home. The appointment wasn’t rushed, we felt very supported.

The online attachment & positioning class is very good too. I learned a lot through the class, the lactation consultation.

Do not hesitate to call them as well,  they have given me advice over the phone.

The only downside is that I wish we could have been able to get an appointment quicker and that we met a lactation consultant on the ward.

Thank you so much for your support.

Dear Mgi23,

Congratulations on the birth of your child. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on the Care Opinion site.

The Breast Feeding Centre (BFC) service has made a difference in the postnatal care we are able to provide to women experiencing breastfeeding issues. I am pleased you were able to get the advice and support you needed from Joanne to help you successfully breastfeed.

Our Lactation Consultants (LC) endeavour to review patients with severe breastfeeding issues prior to discharge however if this is not possible. LC’s are available via telephone Monday to Friday from 8-4 to help women experiencing issues until an appointment can be attended in person.

Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you and your family all the best for the future.
