I was recently a patient at Box Hill Hospital on Ward 8.2
My biggest concern was what appeared to be the lack of hygiene and totally inadequate cleaning. I had to ask the cleaner to clean the bathroom after they apparently cleaned it leaving it soiled and with a full rubbish bin of soiled rubbish. My sibling commented on dirty coffee stains on the floor which it seemed had been there a few days.
Doctors were generally very good.
I felt the nursing care was robotic giving the impression that with one notable exception, a nurse, was exemplary, I felt that Nurses interest in the job was pedestrian at best. I recall not a smile or friendly face despite my efforts to be friendly and an easy patient to care for being largely self caring. I was very unwell but I felt no real care shown or interest.
Importantly, oxygen was only checked once to check if it was working. I believe it used to be done at the start of every shift. What would have happened if they needed it?
All the fuss over wearing masks, and I know their importance, but the lack of overall hygiene was inexcusable, in my opinion.
Sincerely
