About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Getting seen by the MGP4 Midwife throughout my pregnancy was great it was very reassuring seeing the same Mid Wife. But unfortunately I felt really let down I didn’t have the same Mid Wife on the day I had Bub and the one I had I felt was terrible done nothing on the day stood there but it seemed that’s about it.

I called in after my C Section as I was bleeding bad to ask what I should do & I recall I got laughed at not the best experience at all.

Dear cubeks45,

I would like to offer you our congratulations on the birth of your baby as well as thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience with King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) and the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP4).

I am so sorry to hear of your negative experiences during your labour, birth, and recovery. We strive to ensure that women feel secure, respected, and listened to at all times, and I am so regretful that this was not your experience. The supportive care you describe receiving during your pregnancy is much more aligned to our aim of to be a trusted and valued leader in health services for women, newborns, families and the community and I am so sorry this did not continue through your labour, birth, and recovery.

It would help our review of your experience to undertake a full review of the care you received, which would involve access to your medical record and discussion with the team that provided care. If you would be comfortable with discussing your experience further and providing us the opportunity to look into your care in detail, I would encourage you to contact our Customer Service Unit (CSU) on 6458 1444, who will make the arrangements to have your case reviewed.

I am very sorry to hear about your experience and thank you again for providing feedback so that we have the opportunity to explore and address the issues you’ve identified.

Yours sincerely,

Barbara Lourey
