When we found out Paula was going to be our midwife for our second child, after having her deliver our first, we were over the moon. Having a familiar face was exactly what we needed to make the transition to 2 children a smooth and comfortable one, as well as solid support throughout the end of pregnancy.
During the birth of our second child, our son, unfortunately Paula was on days off. This meant we would have another midwife from MGP4, Jascinta, who ended up being an absolute gem and made waiting around for baby to meet the world that much easier. She was professional and thorough and we trusted her to care for us completely.
When her shift ended we had another MGP4 midwife join us, Lolita, who we had met in an antenatal appointment with out first child! This also made us feel very comfortable and confident that we were in the best hands, and boy did that prove true. She handled every hurdle with ease and skill and we were so lucky to have her support us through his delivery.
Throughout the labour and birth we were empowered to make informed decision's about our care and do what we needed. They were our biggest advocates. The midwives when we got to the ward were also fantatsic. Having Paula then do our after hospital checks made us feel so supported and that our journey of the birth of our second came full circle.
Having used the MGP twice now we are certain we would request them to birth any future babies we have, and we would be requesting we have these amazing women be our midwives. Based on my experience, continuity of care and the rapport built throughout this service is so valuable and important to improving birthing outcomes and ensuring support throughout womens pregnancy journey, it so did for us.
