"Gynae outpatient appointment"

About: Swan Hill District Hospital

(as the patient),

I am a staff member at SHDH and I know how important it is to recognise our amazing staff!

I had a Gynae appointment with Dr Miras. I would like to recognise the staff from start to finish who were extremely friendly and supportive.

Anne was very helpful and made sure that I was prepared for my appointment. She very kindly chased up a prescription that a doctor had forgotten to give me before my Gynae appt. I appreciate Anne following this up, as the appointment could not have gone ahead without this prescription. - Thank you Anne!!

Tania- Midwife - was amazing. She was supper supportive and kind. Tania was extremely respectful and went out of her way to ensure I was comfortable. We were actually able to have a laugh! I was very impressed at how gentle and kind she was. - Thank you Tania!!

Dr Miras - Locum Gynae - was also very kind and gentle. He was extremely informative and explained to me exactly what was happening throughout the appointment. It was clear that his priority was to ensure I was as comfortable as possible. I could see he was very knowledgeable, as he was teaching the Medical Student in attendance, many different ways to ensure the client is comfortable.

This appointment had the potential to be quite uncomfortable and painful. Although it was still painful, Dr Miras and Tania made every effort to ensure that the pain was minimal and that I was as comfortable as possible.

I hope all these staff members are recognised because they were truly fantastic!

Dear melonfr84,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience. It is so important for us here at SHDH to know how the care provided is received, and if it met our patients expectations.

Interestingly, as you have identified that you are a staff member here too, this is also a really important point that I wanted to articulate. This is a measure that is considered and valued really highly by health services across Victoria. Through the People Matters Survey, every year staff at public health services are asked "would you recommend a family member or loved one to be treated at this health service". Your story suggests that you had a positive experience, and this is what we are aiming for here at SHDH for every patient every time.

I have shared your story with the staff that you have mentioned from medical services and the clinic through to maternity. I love that your experience was in different areas of the hospital. We aim to provide "Connected Care, Best Experience" and I am really delighted that you had a good experience during something that was a bit painful.

Again, thank you for your story and kind words. We are so proud of the service we offered and as compassion is one of our values I think you have put into words what I would describe as compassionate care.

I hope you have made a full recovery.

Kind Regards

Chloe
