"Incontinence clinic"

About: Albany Health Campus

(as the patient),

It started when I attended a series of exercise classes for older persons (I'm in my late 80's). I have been suffering from incontinence for a couple of years and had started wearing pads to cope with the leakage - oh by the way I'm a male. I used to find that when I felt the need to go to the loo for a pee he (my otherwise, now, useless appendage) would start without me.

At the exercise classes I met the incontinence nurse, Karen, at the rehab centre and when I mentioned my problem she suggested I talk to her about my problem and I did. Subsequently she introduced me to the incontinence officer at the Hospital, Chris.

Following my discussions with both of them and using the advice I had been given and particularly practising the Pelvic Floor Exercises I had been given, I made incredible progress.

I now very rarely if ever use pads and I have manged to cut down on the frequency of peeing.

Life is so much better.

Thank you!
