"Endometriosis flare"

About: Dalby Hospital

(as the patient),

I had an endometriosis flare, I had been managing my symptoms with the medications I have been given including a TENS machine and Heat pack. I am two months out from having stage four endometriosis removed.

My partner found me in the bathroom unable to function and insisted I go to hospital.

I presented at the hospital and was in the waiting room for over an hour (completely understand it wasn’t life threatening) I was not provided pain relief whilst waiting and I ended up having to kneel on the floor to find a comfortable position. My bowel is also adhered to my uterus and I was worried as I hadn’t passed a bowel movement in a few days coupled with excruciating pain.

I was told it was period pain and there was nothing they could do. I was given two codeine to take there and the door was left open for me to make my way out of the hospital and home. I couldn’t walk by myself so needed my partner to help me.

I felt dismissed and invalidated. I went home and cried for the rest of the night, further aggravating the pain and made me feel like a burden not only on the health system but my loved ones too.
