"Caring and professional approach"

About: Royal Hospital for Women / Anaesthetics and Perioperative Services Royal Hospital for Women / Day Surgery Unit Royal Hospital for Women / Macquarie Ward Royal Hospital for Women / Physiotherapy Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Our story started when our adult daughter who has Asbergers and suffers from Chronic Anxiety was found to have at the time a 22cm cyst in her abdomen above her uterus and attached to an ovary - we were concerned with her appearance of looking like a 7month pregnant women, after a long almost 3 months with regular appointments between our local GP /radiology / local Gynaecologist at our small regional hospital, she was finally referred through to Royal Womens Sydney.

Our first communication from Royal Womens Hospital was immediate with Clinical nurse administrator Cath - Cath was so good to deal with via the phone and thoroughly explained all the procedures and what to expect with her surgery, they were also so understanding with our daughter's anxiety and did everything possible to ensure she was not anxious during the leadup to removal providing a visit from a lovely psychologist -Angela.

Cyst that was removed ended up 30-40cm in size & 4.8 litres of fluid 😮 The surgeon -Dr Charmaine and anethetists, recovery nurses / nursing staff on level 2 Macquarie ward ( liz, Emily, Mel, twini, Lily, Gemma & Aoife - they were all absolutely amazing! and also the physiotherapy staff , thankyou! Sorry about spelling 😉 Nothing was too much trouble when we needed their help at any time. In my opinion they all certainly deserve a payrise for the long hours they do! I feel we cannot commend the Royal Womens Hospital staff highly enough for a very caring & professional approach ❤️ Many thanks.

Dear Removal of Bobby,

Thank you for posting your kind and positive feedback regarding your experience with the Royal Hospital for Women.

Its very good to hear that you and your daughter found the communication and care provided by the Gynaeoncology staff so good and helpful particularly around preparation for admission to hospital which can be a worrying time.

Our Gynaecology Oncology Multi-Disciplinary Team, Macquarie Ward staff and Operating Theatre and Recovery staff are highly specialised and experienced and they are all committed to providing the best possible care for their patients and families. It is very good to know that you and your daughter felt so well looked after especially because of your daughter's anxiety and I'm pleased that our Clinical Psychologist was able to provide great support. It's often the little things that can really matter and we believe every patient should receive compassionate and person-centred care which is so important in making a positive difference to your stay in hospital.

Your positive feedback is really valuable as we are always looking to ensure we provide the best possible care and experience.

Your post will be shared with all the wonderful staff you have mentioned who I know will really appreciate your lovely feedback.

I wish you and your daughter the very best and her continued recovery.

Kind regards,

Maria
