About: Prince of Wales Hospital

(as the patient),

I saw Donna at the Randwick POW Outpatients Gastroenterology department on Monday. I have been mysteriously deteriorating over the past three years. Many of my symptoms are invisible, so it is no wonder I struggle to keep the tears in at all my different medical appts., I was okay for the first year or two but I am feeling defeated these days.

Anyway, then came along Donna, patient and understanding, I felt less like a burden. Donna listened, did not make assumptions, was professional, had empathy and was kind. I was less emotional because I did not feel 'less-than', my brain fog can result in me feeling flustered, making everything take longer, not with Donna! I was probably a better patient because of Donna, I felt seen and heard. I felt validated. I was so grateful and still feel happy now. Thankyou

My pleasure, I have since had PCOS confirmed and the pain from my tummy seems to be my new diagnosis which is endometriosis. I knew there had to be a reason I felt 'not quite right' other than weight. Thank you to this incredible nurse who helped me feel believed as I went on to have this feeling validated.:) Yay! (I will be fine as I am tougher than I seem!)
