I was lucky enough to receive exceptional midwifery care throughout my pregnancy at the Family Birth Centre at King Edward's Memorial Hospital (Subiaco WA). I loved receiving continuity of care from my midwife Hayley throughout my pregnancy. My appointments were extremely thorough, each lasting at least an hour. Hayley look time to answer all my questions and I never felt rushed to make a decision or dismissed.
In my experience, the FBC itself feels very welcoming and home-like compared to a hospital setting. When it came to my birth, all of the midwives who attended, including Hayley were amazing, positive and encouraging. I feel the birth suites are very private and comfortable, I stayed for 9 hours post-birth. As a first time mum, knowing that the FBC was connected to the hospital should any medical emergencies occur during the birth or if I needed to be transfered afterwards was a major contributing factor to choosing the FBC.
Post-birth, the home-visits by the midwives were excellent and I looked forward to them each day.
