(as the patient),

I underwent a mastectomy and double reconstruction following breast cancer diagnosis. I recovered in the Macquarie Ward and the nurses looked after my treatment and recovery. Each and every one of them helped me through my journey. The surgery was massive and following chemotherapy my body was weak. Every nurse who cared for me helped me heal and made me feel I could call on them anytime if I needed anything. 

At every change of shift the nurses were there to check on me and see how I was doing, asking me if there was anything they could get me.

Our Macquarie Ward nursing staff are an award winning team recognised for their compassionate and person-centred care. It is very good to hear that you had such a good experience and felt so well looked after and received the best care to help with your recovery after your surgery. We believe good communication and checking regularly with our patients during their hospital stay is essential to help understand and assist with meeting the needs of our patients. It's often the little things that can make a difference and we believe every patient deserves this high standard of care.
