Hi I’ve just finished 4 cycles of chemotherapy to treat Breast Cancer. It’s been a huge emotional journey from the shock diagnosis at Age 50 to being told I would need a Mastectomy and then follow up surgery to remove Lymph Nodes under one arm. Throughout my time at POW Private under Dr Sarah and my time at the Nelune Cancer Centre at Prince of Wales Public from Specialists (Registrar Lucy was amazing) to all the nursing staff on Level 4 I have received exceptional care and support. It was amazing having access to two Breastcare nurses Gill and Jenny who were always available for questions. I am so grateful and fortunate to be able to have had the Ice Cap therapy to try and save my hair. Again the nurses were amazing adjusting me into that therapy offering and keeping me comfortable whilst in the chair for a good 5 hours. The delicious catered sandwiches, juice and cups of tea most certainly helped too!
No one wants to go through any of this but when we are fortunate enough to live in a country, State, City with world-class facilities and therapy options one feels extremely fortunate. I am looking forward to living a long and healthy life and enjoying my children, husband and back to my travels!
A recent highlight was definitely ringing the bell with teary eyes.
Thank you to everyone involved in my care.
