"Excellent care of young child"

About: Armadale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter (nearly 3) gets unwell often, could just be her or it’s because she’s a 2020 baby born into a world with weird new germs etc and perhaps this has lowered her immune response.

We’ve taken her to Armadale Hospital twice since she was 8 months old for two separate illnesses and have been treated with nothing but genuine care and respect. On both visits I felt listened to during triage, with nurses upon admission to the ER and then from consulting Drs. Our most recent visit today we had a great experience with nurse Phil and Dr Stuart. Both listened fully to the history of our daughter’s illness over the past few days, understood my concerns and why we came in and immediately directed us to the procedures we’d like to follow to help her feel better.

During each checkin I felt able to ask further questions on what was happening next and felt confident in knowing what they’d suggest I do next should want daughter feel unwell again at home. Clear information helped me to understand what they thought was wrong with her and how to help my daughter to feel better and support her at home. Many thanks to AHS for their great staff and genuine care, it is much appreciated :)

Dear Lady G

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your very kind words.

I am sorry to hear that your daughter has been unwell and has required treatment in our Emergency Department (ED) on several occasions. I’m sure having a sick child must have been very distressing, and I’m reassured to hear that our staff did as much as they could to put both you and your child at ease. I am very pleased you received compassionate care and that you felt listened to and involved in the assessment process.

Our ED team takes great pride in providing excellent high-quality care. I have shared your feedback with them. Positive feedback such as yours goes a long way in encouraging and supporting our ED staff to continue to provide the amazing care you described.

I hope your daughter has since recovered and I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind Regards,

Alison Parr
