"Smoking in the middle of the hospital"

About: Broome Health Campus

(as the patient),

I feel it's absolutely disgusting that there is always people smoking in the small outdoor seating area in the middle of the hospital. It is clearly labled no smoking but everytime we walk past there is at least 1 person smoking. I have to walk past to access the Ultrasound imagery area, pathology and general and maternity wards. I believe something needs to be done about this because some of us actually care about our health and the health of our unborn children.

Thank you for your story and is an issue we are attempting to address as best possible.

We do have a No Smoking policy on site, and are continuously reminding our clients of this. We have stepped up surveillance of this area to attempt to proactively discuss this with our clients. At the same time we do offer and provide alternative therapy for those clients who are unable to leave hospital due to their clinical requirements.

This should improve as we continue to monitor and improve the situation
