"Positive birth story"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity Kununurra Hospital / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

Recently, we welcomed our beautiful baby boy into the world. We had a wonderful 22-hour labour with the last hour spent at the hospital. My partner and our doula supported me to labour at home and it was amazing,  we got to the hospital just in time and our midwife Denise was amazing. I was 41 weeks and 3 days and had a drug and intervention free birth! Exactly what I wanted.

We had all the tools we needed and I am very proud of myself, our birthing team and loved my birth experience. It was calm (until maybe that last hour… that was intense haha) we kept the space dark, had music playing, fairy lights and used homeopathic, essential oils, TENS machine, birth comb ( best thing ever!!), water, my breath, horse lips and movement to  bring our baby further and further down!

So glad we did the hypobirthing classes. Leading up the birth I used the tracks a lot when I started to feel like baby wasn't ever coming, they really helped to keep me calm. The course allowed me to make ensure I have a calm and positive breath and with my doula and partner by my side I had an amazing birth.

Ohhh congrats snowpk36 on the birth of your baby!

I remember you saying in a previous Care Opinion that you enjoyed attending the Positive Birth Program and is wonderful to hear from you now about how your birth went.

Pregnancy can feel really long, I am glad the tools supported you through the times when it felt like baby was never going to arrive.

I am glad you are proud of yourself - so you should be! You invested your time and energy into preparing for birth. I can read that it was a long journey and at times it was really tough (transition is often interesting) but you had a great team to support you (doulas, midwives and partners are awesome!), some fabulous tools and your mental preparation would have taken you a long way.

Congrats again, thank you for sharing with us this special time in you life.

Enjoy your little family.

Warm Regards,

Kasey

Hi snowpk36,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! We are so glad you had the positive, drug free birth you were wanting.

Our midwives are amazing and will always try to make the birthing experience as close to if not exactly what the parents want.

Your mental preparedness and the help of your partner and doula would have been a huge part in making this experience as good as possible as well.

Enjoy this time with your new bub!

Warm Regards,

Pattie Scott
