"Excellent treatment at Collie Emergency Department"

About: Collie Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to the ED in Collie for what we later found out to be an appendix that was giving me trouble.

I was treated very well and my pain was effectively managed from when I was put into the ambulance until I left for the operation.

I want to thank Beth at ED first of all, she was friendly, professional and attentive. Beth kept me comfortable and informed on all the aspects of the diagnosis. She kept on testing and examining until they got to the point where only the CT scan could confirm whether it was the appendix or not. She then arranged for me to be transferred to a bigger hospital where they did the CT and appendectomy. Beth treated me again 3 weeks later when I returned to the ED with stomach pain which was initially thought to be complications related to the operation. Beth diagnosed the causes and prescribed a strategy to prevent future problems.

I would also like to thank the other staff who treated me during this time: Dr Peter, Marg at ED, Mel and Petrie the ambulance paramedics.

Dear rainex73,

Please accept my thanks for posting such a great response to your care received at the Collie Hospital and as the Director of Nursing, I can only express my thanks to the Staff who have provided this care for you at a time when you must have felt so unwell. This is very rewarding as like you, I am also very appreciative of the great care the Staff are able to provide for the members of the Collie Community.

I would also like to express my thanks to you for taking the time post your care story as this gives me a great opportunity to provide meaningful appreciation and thanks to the staff involved. I have noted your mention of Beth and the care provided, the other nurses and also Dr Peter. This is especially meaningful as it demonstrates great teamwork which is such an important aspect of meeting our patient’s needs.

Many thanks

Chris A/DoN/HSM Wellington (Collie, Harvey and donnybrook Hospitals)
