"I felt punished for being in pain"

About: Sale Hospital / Emergency Department Sale Hospital / Medical Imaging

(as the patient),

I presented to the Sale hospital emergency department with excruciating pelvic pain and was unable to urinate.

I was asked to give a urine specimen and take a seat in waiting room.

2 hours later I asked the triage nurse for some pain relief as I was sweating and shaking in pain and still couldn’t wee. 2 hours later I had to ask again as still been given nothing. An hour later I was given half an endone! It did nothing!!

8 hours after I arrived I was taken through. Dr ordered bloods and I felt I had to beg for pain relief. They gave me morphine. 2 hours later I was still in excruciating pain so gave me some more morphine. I asked for a drink as I hadn’t drank or eaten in over 15 hours. Dr said I needed results first.

2 hours later bloods and CT came back clear so dr gave me a slip to get ultrasound when I left and said ultrasound would ring me during day to get scan done. I told them I was still in a lot of pain and still struggling to wee but they gave me nothing. I hobbled out in more pain than I hobbled in with.

Rang X-ray that afternoon and they can’t do ultra sound until following week!

I rang emergency back and they said if I’m in that much pain I need to go back in.

At that stage I broke down as don’t want to go through the whole process again 😩

It’s not as though I woke up and decided that I felt like being in pain for the day, so why did I feel like I was being punished and treated as though it was my choice! And what do I do now? Feeling so defeated and helpless
