"Gratitude for a School Nurse"

About: Bunbury / Harvey / Leschenault Community Health Service

(as a parent/guardian),

I’m a single parent of four children, 3 of one gender ranging from toddler to older teen and a young teen child of the opposite gender. The children's other parent lives overseas, we have moved back to Australia while they stay overseas to look after their mother who is terminal with cancer.

My young teen, who is grappling with a new culture, puberty, not having their other parent near and living in a home full of people of the other gender, is having some issues in coping with their current life situation. I as a parent, cannot understand all they are going through, although I try.

I feel that Penny, the school nurse at Bunbury High School, has come to our rescue. Not only has she been there for my child, she has also offered me an option for assistance.

Penny’s presence at the school has given my child an avenue to explain their anxieties and some direction in helping to deal with them. Penny has also helped me to better understand both my child’s mental attitudes and emotional development. This not only helps me support my child, but also helps empower both my child and I to overcome the darker thoughts and potential self harm that have been entering their mind.

Thank You so much Penny and all School Nurses I feel who are helping to save lives and families.
