"Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) at KEMH"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

I wanted to share my wonderful experience with MGP at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) in Perth, Western Australia.

I have had two babies with the MGP program. Both times I found the antenatal care has been consistent, supportive and thorough. I also attended some private physio appointments, listened to podcasts and did my own reading. The combination of all this made me feel confident in my own health and the health of my baby throughout pregnancy.

I felt the delivery of both babies at KEMH was amazing thanks to the MGP midwives. Both babies were born under the care of a different midwife to the one I was seeing for antenatal appointments, however I still was in contact with my original midwife during the labour and still had a sense of the continuity of the same care.

I believe midwives are rockstars and MGP help you to navigate the obstetric care at KEMH to make sure you are well supported in choice and safety throughout the labour and birth.

MGP also visit your home for post natal care. In my opinion, what an amazing service!

Based on my experience I recommend MGP for anyone who is after evidence-based care for them and their babies. I feel it compliments the hospital obstetric care well and puts you in the hands of some amazing midwives.

Dear hawkwc59

I’m so happy to read about your two wonderful experiences with the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) model of care at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH). Hearing that you felt confident and supported is a real testament to the MGP midwives and their commitment to supporting women throughout the pregnancy, birth, and post-natal period. It’s so good to hear that, even though your primary midwives were not present at your births, you still experienced continuity of care and amazing birth experiences. I’ll be sure to pass your kind feedback on to the MGP teams.

I wish you and your family all the best,

Delaney Gibbons
