My granddaughter 16 months was taken to Children’s Emergency at Fiona Stanley Hospital recently. She was in severe respiratory distress due to COVID. We were seen and triaged immediately and taken into an emergency room where we spent the next 8 hours. She was seen by a number of doctors, including a paediatric consultant who took great care to explain the situation, ask opinion from her mother and treat my granddaughter kindly and gently as to not upset her. I was so impressed with the responsive care, the compassion to Mum, Bub and i and the kindness shown. The nurses were the same and we were well informed all the way. Thankfully she responded well to treatment and we were sent home armed with what to look for if she relapsed

Dear Lawjen63,

Sorry to read that your granddaughter was very unwell, I am sure it would have been a scary experience for you and her parents. I was especially happy to read of the impressive care your granddaughter received from our staff along with the entire positive experience you all had in the children’s ED. While we know that we have a great team of clinicians and support workers in the ED it is very pleasing that someone like yourself has taken the time to let us know of your experience.

Please be assured that I will share your feedback with the Paediatric ED team along with my added note of thanks.
