"My mum's visit to the emergency room and subsequent surgery"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / Clinical Sciences Building 1 - Surgical & Orthopaedic Research Prince of Wales Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My mum was having terrible pain in her jaw. We had been to see several Maxillo Facial surgeons and no one could figure out what the problem was.

We eventually ended up in the emergency room. The medical team set out immediately to try and manage her pain. They took x rays, ct scans, blood tests etc. the resident max fax spent hours pouring over her results, communicating with the previous specialists until he discovered a possible infection in the jaw bone. Emergency surgery was scheduled but unfortunately several other emergencies kept trumping hers and surgery was delayed until recently.

We were moved to Parkes ward, level 7 and the staff just took over. I was completely distraught by this stage but the max fax came to see us and reassured us both that it was all going to be ok… the staff took unbelievable care of her and made sure her pain was managed. This morning she had her surgery. The team did a phenomenal job. The max fax has already been to visit her twice…. Thank you Callum for being incredible!!!! She was then in the safe hands of nurse Bridget and her team. I really can not thank you enough. You guys work so hard, keep a smile on your faces and plough on through….
