Terrible attention, recently I went with my partner to the emergency room because they had severe chest pain, a lot of coughing and difficulty breathing.
When we arrived I told the receptionist that we don't have enough money to pay for the care right now. But anyway we would like to pay for it afterwards and if they can send it to our email address.
Then we had to wait two hours. When the doctor received my partner, I recall they told my partner verbatim in a seemingly ironic and contemptuous way:
Why did you come?
What did you expect me to do for you?
There is no treatment for what you have.
I can not do anything for you.
While we waited in the room, it seemed many patients went first, since they arrived after us and were not as seriously ill as my partner. I felt all received timely treatment, except my partner. In the end they did not give my partner any kind of treatment.
Finally, my partner agreed to go to a GP who diagnosed them with influenza. Now my partner is in extreme care, with difficulty breathing and based on their experience, does not want to set foot in the hospital again.
We feel humiliated, offended and discriminated against for seemingly not being able to pay at the moment.
