"Rushed to hospital with chest pain"

About: Knox Private Hospital

(as a relative),

My partner was rushed, in an ambulance, to Hospital with chest pains... we could've gone to a public hospital but I believe the Ambos thought we'd get better and more urgent medical attention at Knox Private.

Based on my experience, I would rate the Knox Private Emergency Department care 3/5 at best... they would've scored lower if not for one particular nurse who was fantastic. I felt the other nurses couldn't care less and I recall the doctor on duty must've spent all of 90 seconds talking about my partner’s medical condition... instead I felt the doctor was more focused on persuading us to check-in to the ward for monitoring and an angiogram that same evening. No sooner had we signed the paperwork, the angiogram was pushed to the next day and after 8 hours of what I felt was virtual neglect (no doctor, nurses seemingly had no clue what meds were prescribed and administered, etc.), we were told that the angiogram was only going to be a couple of days later...I believe the assumption being that we would be happy to sit in hospital and charge our stay to our Private Medical Cover. I would give the medical care at the Ward a 0/5 score.

Not once did a Cardiologist see the patient, who was rushed to emergency by Ambulance.

In my opinion, Knox Private is a business first and a hospital second.
